Non-Swedish shareholders

Non-Swedish shareholders normally choose to go via their ”usual” bank contacts in their home country to get their shares registered. The bank generally uses its partners either directly in Sweden or via an intermediary. The bank registers its shareholder’s Swedish securities in its custodian bank in the foreign country together with its other securities.

As a result of this, foreign banks are often given as holders of large amounts of stock, which means that the real owners are hidden to the issuer. The foreign ownership can furthermore represent a substantial proportion of the ownership in the company.

Our customers have requested to be able to identify the holdings of their foreign owners. As a supplement to the lists of owners in VPC Analys, Euroclear Sweden offers information on foreign institutional ownership, such as non-Swedish fund managers and the holdings of their separate funds, at a very competitive price by international standards.

By cooperating with FactSet Research Systems Inc., represented in Europe by LionShare Europe SAS,
Euroclear Sweden can provide more detailed information on non-Swedish owners.
