Cross Border Transfers

Cross border Transactions (CBT)

In the vpc system there are specific transactions to be used for cross border transfers. These transactions are very similar to domestic settlement transactions in many ways. An account operator registers the instructions and the status is updated continuously during the settlement process. In this case, however, the status-updates are a reflection of the settlement process in the local market where the foreign securities are kept.

The instructions can be entered either via file or the vpc terminal using Euroclear Swedens proprietary format. Account operators can also choose to send their instructions via an ISO15022-based format (SWIFT Net or file). The status updates and confirmation reporting will be sent in accordance with the way the instructions where entered.

Valid securities

CBT handles transfers in foreign securities only. Transfers in Swedish securities to/from Euroclear Finland are handled via a different routine. Euroclear Sweden offers cross border transfers in the following foreign securities:
